El Reno Looks to Continue to Rebuild their Tradition in the 2021-22 Season

The tradition-rich El Reno wrestling program has gone under a complete rebuild in recent years and is primed to take another big step in the 2021-22 season.

In 2015 they had fallen to a total of only six wrestlers between their high school and junior high when Tyrone Lewis stepped in and took over. In one year, Tyrone brought the program up to up to a total of fifty-five wrestlers and got the program’s first dual win in seven years.

Now their wrestling program has a reinvested community and school that is ready to build into the future. They finished 12-2 in duals last season and finished 4th at the state tournament. They will return one Jr. High State Placer (women’s), nine High School State Qualifiers, and six High School State Placers for the 2021-2022 season.

“With the kind of team we’re returning this year and the expectations we have to once again compete for a State Title, I look at it as a privilege and a huge responsibility for our program to embrace this opportunity and make the best of it to get what we want out of this season” Tyrone Lewis-Head Coach
