Edmond North Primed for Shot at History in 6A this Season

This year, Edmond North has a chance to do something that’s never been done in Oklahoma wrestling. To win OSSAA wrestling state titles on both the girls’ and boys’ side in the same year.

Last year, the 6A team race became one of the more incredible in the history of wrestling in Oklahoma. Stillwater edged Edmond North by one point after a great consolation run by Edmond North, and a surge of finals wins for Stillwater that ultimately gave the Pioneers the team title. This year, the Edmond North boys team is stacked deep. They’re currently ranked #1 in 6A and #3 in the country with incredible depth across their lineup and many upperclassmen with plenty of experience at the state tournament. They’re the clear favorites with the rest of 6A trying to develop into contention.

On the girls’ side, Edmond North was in a similarly contested team race where Tulsa Union came back on Saturday to beat the Huskies and Bixby by one point. This year the girls’ race is fairly wide open, with three or four teams in contention for the title, including Edmond North.

We received an in-depth look at their program this week. Links to videos of all of our conversations are listed below.
