Dual State Recap: 3A & 4A

The 2023 Class 3A and Class 4A Dual State Tournaments didn’t disappoint as they were filled with exciting duals and outstanding wrestling.

Following two days of thrilling action, Tuttle won the Class 4A title with a 53-13 win over Catoosa to claim the Tigers ongoing state record 14th straight Dual State title while Blackwell came from behind to take a heart stopping 38-32 win over Marlow to claim their first title since 1991.  

The Class 3A title bout between Blackwell and Marlow lived up to its pre tournament hype as the two powerhouse teams battled back and forth before Blackwell earned falls in the last three matches to pull out the electrifying 38-32 win.

The dual started at 285 and Blackwell struck first with a fall from J.D. McCleary, before each team took turns winning overtime matches featuring highly ranked wrestlers.

First, Marlow’s top ranked Tommy Miller scored an 8-7 tiebreaker win over 2nd ranked Jaxson Brown, but Blackwell bounced back with 2nd ranked Louden Wolfe scoring a 5-4 sudden victory win over 3rd…
