Cushing’s Two Early Season Tournament Wins have them up in the Ranking, but they know Other Teams are Coming

Cushing has depth, arguably as much as any team in 4A, with the exception of Tuttle. They return several state qualifiers, three state placers, and are making strides with some of their returners that could get them on the state tournament podium this season.

But all that excitement, including a #2 spot in our most recent tournament team rankings, has to be met with realistic expectations. Head Coach Barry Patterson says he knows that several teams have guys coming out of football and off of injuries who will be in the mix soon. He says they have a lot of work to do to stay ahead of them and to have a chance to bring home some hardware this postseason.

Regardless, early season tournament wins at the Chuck West Invitational in Bristow and the Cabot, Arkansas tournament, the return of Daniel Hernandez, and improvement at key weights do have Cushing in a spot to potentially have some success at the dual state, regional, and state tournaments. We got an in-depth look at their team this past week. You can watch all of our interviews at the links below and over on our Rokfin page.
