After a long day of wrestling trying to beat the upcoming cold weather we got to see a couple of the top ranked 6A teams go at it with Edmond North and Moore both in the top 5. Edmond North was without a full lineup which proved to be a bit too difficult to overcome as the Moore Lions take home the title. This makes a 4x repeat for the ladies at Moore. Moore finished the tournament with an impressive 8 total medalists which gave them the slight edge over Edmond North. Moore was led by champions Hannah Lopez (115) and Shelby Kemp (135) along with KyLee Smith (100) and Grace Huffman (155) who finished in 2nd place. Brooklyn Noel (105), Faith Sarres (120) Mireya Monje (125) and Ayden Black (235) all battled on the backside to finish third. Lopez dominated her way through the 115 bracket, finishing with 3 first period falls.
The middle weights for the huskies is the heart of their lineup. Both Taylor Ellis (125) and Bella Williams (130) remain undefeated on the year as they bring home gold for the huskies. Clover Williams (135) Madilynn Ingram (140), Teegan Steward (145) all make the finals but fall a little short and finish with a silver medal. Ezmeralda Fulller (190) finished strong on the backside and Regan Leach (120) fell in the consolation finals but had a pair of nice wins on the backside to help out her team.
Norman North had an impressive 5 finalists, crowning 4 champions: Ava Granados (105), Coty Sessions (110), Isabella Long (145) and Cayetena Maldonado (170) along with Gabriella Nava (190) finishing 2nd. Putting 5 into the finals along with a couple of points on the backside helped boost the Timberwolves to a 3rd place finish in the team race. Norman North appeared to be a pinning machine which definitely gave them a boost in the team race. Granados and Sessions pinned their way to the finals and Long and Maldonado pinned everyone they wrestled. Long was barely on the mat longer then a single period of wrestling as all three of her pins were within a minute, the finals coming in 14 seconds…
