Carter Young Wins Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier

The Last Chance World Team Trials Qualifier was on Friday in Fargo, North Dakota, and former Stillwater standout, and soon to be Northwestern Wildcat, Carter Young entered the tournament at 61 KG.

Young was entered in a five-man round-robin with Ryan Henningson, Ryan Ripplinger, Steven Resnick, and Joseph Pins.

Young started out his day with a :50 technical superiority victory of Resnick. He followed that up with another 10-0 VSU over Pins. His fourth bout nearly mirrored the first two as he quickly ripped off another 10-0 tech.

This set up the final match at 61 KG that would decide the tournament winner. Ryan Ripplinger had also navigated his first three matches with an unblemished record before facing Young. Young wasted little time in this match as well as he quickly disposed of Ripplinger with another 10-0 technical superiority victory in 1:21.

This qualifies Young to compete in the 2021 Senior World Team Trials. The date and location of the World Team Trials Tournament is yet to be determined.
