Broken Arrow vs Stillwater Dual Breakdown

Rainy and cold Thursday night makes for perfect atmosphere for some tough wrestling in Stillwater as the Pioneers kick off with their first home dual of the season. Broken Arrow Tigers make the trip down for some early season action. Stillwater is #2 in team rankings and Broken Arrow #4 so there is sure to be some great matchups. 

Junior high gets the action started and the tigers come out with the win, final score 51-22. Student section for Stillwater begins to fill in and is sure to let Broken Arrow know they are present and loud as the Tigers take the mat. Looks like the theme for the night is sports jerseys. If you haven’t been to a Stillwater home dual, the student section shows up and gets loud, which is great to see. 

Spot light is on and we get right to action at 106 as Broken Arrow’s Rudy Rojas takes on Stillwater’s Nathan Phillips. Rojas with a quick takedown and some nearfall, before cutting Phillips. Rojas returns with a SWEET blast double and a few sets of back points to finish period one 14-0. Period 2 Rojas goes headlock to look for the fall but Phillips fights out and match ends with a Techfall. Broken Arrow 5  Stillwater 0  

At 113 Ayden Thomas (Stillwater) wrestles against Bradley Lazzerini (Broken Arrow). Thomas with a pair of takedowns to start the match. Things get into a scramble, Thomas ends up with a cradle and gets the first period fall. The student section goes wild.  Broken Arrow 5  Stillwater 6

Moving to 120 Stillwater Mark Janus takes on Evan Notley. Notley gets an early takedown and goes right to legs in looking for a power-half. Notley with a tough ride on top to end period 1 score 2-0. Period 2 Notley chooses bottom, sits out off the whistle and gets a reversal. After putting together another takedown and some back points, period 2 ends score 11-2. Period 3 Notley pushing the pace looking for a tech, but Janus able to fight through, final score and Broken Arrow gets the major decision, score 17-5.  Broken Arrow 9  Stillwater 6

At 126 Stillwater’s Beric Jordan looks unstoppable on his feet against Broken Arrow’s Ryan Dement. Jordan gets right to his fireman dump and secures 4 takedowns in the first minute of the match. Jordan with one final dump to his back and gets the fall….
