Bonus-Point Heroes: How Team Bronze Wrestlers Sealed Victory at UCO’s Intrasquad Dual

EDMOND (Oct. 29) – Dylan Brown, Zane Coleman and Garrett Wells all registered bonus-point wins to power the Bronze team to a 26-23 win over the Blue in Central Oklahoma’s intrasquad dual Sunday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.

Brown scored a technical fall at 157 pounds, while Coleman (174) and Wells (184) both had first-period pins. Each team won six matches in the 12-bout dual, with the Bronze’s bonus wins the difference.

None of UCO’s returning starters competed in the dual, which featured 12 freshmen and redshirt freshmen as the Bronchos got a good look at their future. Members of last year’s team were presented their national championship rings in a ceremony before the dual.

“I saw some good things from a lot of different guys,” head coach Todd Steidley said. “Our guys have been wrestling each other for a while now and that makes it tough sometimes because they know each other so well, but I thought everybody competed hard.”

UCO opens the season for real Wednesday, traveling to Little Rock, Ark. For a 7 p.m. neutral-site meeting with Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Ouachita Baptist….
