PAWHUSKA, OK. (Dec 12) – After winning their first ever team title at the Perry Tournament of Champions, the Blackwell Maroons showed up and showed out in their Monday night road dual defeating Pawhuska 78-3.
Out of the ten matches wrestled, nine would end in falls for the Maroons without making it to the 3rd period. The win over Pawhuska bumped Blackwell’s record to 3-0 on the season.
“I feel like the kids wrestled well tonight,” said assistant coach Bobby Miller. “We wrestle Tonkawa tomorrow and I hope the effort from our guys is the same.”
Jaxon Brown (106) started off the night with a first period fall that would set the dominating tone for the Maroons. Louden Wolfe (113), Beau Murphy (120), and Kaiden Ailey (126) all would follow Brown’s lead with first period falls to give the Maroons the lead of 24-0.
