For the fourth straight year, Blackwell and Marlow are your Class 3A regional champions, as Blackwell set another record for most tournament points, winning the East Regional title by a staggering 144 points over runner-up Pawhuska, with Pawnee finishing in 3rd place. For Marlow, it was their sixth straight regional title as they won the West Regional by 15 points over runner-up Salina, with Lincoln Christian finishing in 3rd place.
Blackwell, coached by Connor Cline, qualified 12 for the State Tournament, including nine regional champions. Winning titles were Rylan Sandolval, Garrett Short, Kole Hetrick, Madden Edgar, Sabon Batton, Andrew Young, Ryder Short, Grant Rowe, and Kelby Ingram, with Bowdy Thomason placing 2nd, Mason Young placing 3rd, and Gage Backus placing 4th. Garrett Short, Edgar, and Rowe were state champions last year, with Ingram and Thomason finishing as state runners-up.
This was Blackwell 23rd regional title and for the second straight year they set the Class 3A scoring record. Last year, Blackwell broke Marlow’s 2024 scoring record with 346.5 points. This year’s team established a new record by scoring 354 points. The 354 points also puts them in 5th place for most points in all classes. The nine individual champions ties last year’s team for the most in Class 3A and in a tie with many teams for most individual champions in any class.
Marlow, coached by Andy Howington, has three regional champions out of their nine state qualifiers. Winning titles were 2X state champion and 3X finalist Tommy Miller, Brennen Harris, and Clint Ladon, with Clint Gilbert placing 2nd, Rocket Rodriguez and Elijah Wagner placing 4th, and Justin Choate, Cooper Ortega, Caleb Davis all placing 5th. This was Marlow’s 17th regional title.
Salina, coached by Wes Harding had eight placers with four winning regional titles. Caleb Kelley, state runner-up Kolten Terwilliger, Connor Hess, and state champion Konway Williamson won titles, with state runner-up Lane Walters and Jescee Sanders earning runner-up finishes, Spencer McClelland placing 3rd, and 2023 state runner-up Brogan O’Neal placing 4th.
Pawhuska, coached by Chris Walker, has eight going to the State Tournament. Logan Cass, Cael Holcomb, Pierce Kenderick, Vann Wildcat, and Dane Jensen all earned runner-up finishes, with Corlin Cass placing 3rd, Jimmie Wildcat placing 4th and Laike Barnhart placing 5th.
Pawnee, coached by Daniel Kendle, is sending six to the State Tournament, with three going as regional champions. Deacon Britt, Nathan Goodman, and undefeated Cale McPeek won titles, with Ashton Andrews and Aiden Marquez earning runner-up finishes and Hunter Patterson placing 5th. Goodman won the 150 lb. title with a win in the finals over Blackwell state runner-up Bowdy Thomason. McPeek was a state runner-up last year.
Lincoln Christian, coached by AB Stokes had six regional placers. Drake Sheffield, Hudson Farris, and Max Madrid each earned runner-up finishes, with Gabe Huntsinger and Ethan Uyetake placing 3rd, and Arion Stokes placing 4th. Stokes, Sheffield, and Madrid are all freshmen.
Other East Regional champions were Vinita’s Luke Prince and Vian’s Garritt Hunt. Prince and Hunt were both state runners-up last year. In the West Regional, Comanche and Kingfisher each crowned two champions, with Matthew Hunt and Kanon Clift winning titles for Comanche and Jaxon Sheppard and Brayden Kochenower winning titles for Kingfisher. Other champions were Luke Nelson from OCS, Dakota Dahlenburg from Hinton and Cashion’s Carlos Martinez. Kochenower was a 2024 state runner-up and Dahlenburg was a runner-up last year. Martinez made history as Cashion’s first regional champion.
