The U23 Pan Am Championships take place over the next three days and two Oklahomans, John Wiley and Bella Williams, are competing.
At 59 kg, Bella Williams will face Olivia Lichti of Canada, Karla Ramos Espinosa of Mexico, and Camila Roa Ortega of Peru, a two-time age-group Pan American Championships medalist.
John Wiley will battle through a round robin bracket at 70 kg, starting against Donavan Solorzano Amaya of Honduras, who placed 9th at the 2024 U23 Pan American Championships. Wiley will also square off against Diego Hernandez Perez of Guatemala, who finished 11th at the 2023 U20 Pan American Championships.
Competition begins at 10:45 a.m. in Queretaro, Mexico, on April 10, with Greco-Roman qualification rounds and repechage. On Friday, April 11, Women’s freestyle action gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday sees men’s freestyle competition with a 10 a.m. start time. The finals are set for 5 p.m. each day.
