We have finally made it to the postseason and the Pokes are the heavy favorites to win a second consecutive Big XII tournament title Friday and Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
With six #1 seeds, three #2, and a #3, there is a world where the Cowboys can take ten wrestlers to the Saturday night finals.
Based on pre-seeds, before a notable drop by Iowa State (more on that below) Oklahoma State was predicted to score 171.5 points to second-place Iowa State at 136.5, so it should be a Cowboy runaway, unless something crazy happens.
We will preview the Cowboys at each weight, including seeded final matchups, below. As usual rankings are (Flo/Intermat)
125: (6/6) Troy Spratley (12-3): Spratley is having a really good year and is the 1 seed for the weekend. His first matchup will be against Bridger Ricks (11-11, Utah Valley). They have faced each other once, a 6-3 Spratley win in 2024. Against common opponents, Ricks is 3-16 to Sprats 27-10 and this should be a cakewalk. Potential Finals Matchup: (10/10) Stevo Poulin (11-6, Iowa State) a three-time NCAA qualifier and one-time AA (8th). Spratley has beaten Poulin twice in the last year, both close matches (2-1, 3-1). PREDICTION: 1st Place
