Southmoore home of the Saber Cats and quite possibly the worst bleachers I’ve ever sat on hosted the 2026 Girls COAC Conference championships. Well maybe at my old age the bleachers didn’t bother me as much as waiting around for finals to start did.
After a great day of wrestling I didn’t need my seat for the finals of the 2026 Girls COAC finals. The finals were action packed and dominated by the Jaguars of Westmoore. Westmoore led by six finalist walked out with the team title 75.5 points ahead of the Edmond North Lady Huskies.
The finals started off at 100 with Kyrain Perez of Westmoore picking up a fall 53 seconds into the first period over Edmond North Amyah Poarch.
At 105, Kyrstan Perez jumped out to a 7-0 lead and picked up a first period fall over Normans Daviann Morris. Hannah Lopez kept the momentum rolling for the Jaguars of Westoore at 110. Lopez quickly jumped out to a 10-1 first period lead before picking up a second period fall over Rylie Hillis on Norman High School.
Lakyn Farrington used a second period takedown over Stillwaters Hannah Tackett at 115. Jalaina Lang of Moore picked up a 7-0 victory over Westmoores Jazmyn Martinez.
The 125 final was by far the match of the night. Normans Claire Lancaster and Westmoores Ranelle Smith stole the show. The first period was great hand fighting and Smith fought off a few take down attempts. Lancaster was able to get a takedown towards the end of the first period. Smith chose neutral to start the second period and was able to get the takedown to tie it up at 3. Smith worked for a turn but Lancaster was able to get a escape to take a narrow 4-3 lead into the final period.
Lancaster chose to start the third down and Westmoores head coach Bryson McGowan chose to go ahead and give up the 1 point and just start the girls back on there feet to start the third. Lancaster now leading 5-3 stayed in great position and was wrestling on the edge of the mat hot but for stalling on a Smith takedown attempt. Action went back to the center and Smith went back to work and was able to get in on a shot that went out of bounds and pick up a stalling point to make it 5-4. Smith ran back to the center and was ready to go to work. Having only 40 seconds to get a takedown Westmoores Rannele Smith secured a takedown with three seconds left on the edge of the mat in front of the West Moore corner. Smith with the win 7-5. I don’t think this will be the last time these to will meet this year in a finals match!
Whitney Bryant of Mustang got a Medical forfeit over Daisy Yost of Yukon. Prayers out to Yost after having to be carted out with a arm injury. Loyalty Lockett of Stillwater picked up a first period fall over Piedmonts Corren Morris.
Westmoore Addison Cole was taken down in the first period by Taylor Brown of Stillwater. Cole worked to get back in the match and tied it at 3 before getting a second period fall. Piedmonts Makaylee Cannon got 4 falls to win the 145 round robin. Mya Dobrinski of Stillwater got the medical forfeit over LaNaiya Larrinaga of Southoore at 155.
Amya Warhop of Edmond Santa Fe collected the title at 170 with a second period fall over Norman Norths Cayetana Maldonado. Edmond Norths Aleah Underwood pinned her way through the 190 bracket with a third period fall over Yukons Gabriella Castro. Stillwaters Kahliyah Enko won the Round Robin at HWT.
This was a great one day tournament that this year only involved the varsity and not the whole teams as in the past when it was a two day event. We are now starting to see where girls are going to certify and what weights they will end up at later this season at regionals and also state! Looking forward to another great weekend of wrestling and a great end of the season.
