Class 5A will be wide-open with Harrah and McLoud listed as the early favorites to claim the first Class 5A state championship. While there are not any returning state champions, there are two past state champions in Class 5A.
Ft. Gibson’s Peighton Mullins is a 2X state champion and 3X state finalist who fell in last year’s instant classic to Elgin’s nationally ranked Symphony Veloz. Mullins, undefeated in winning her 2022 state title, carries a 63-3 career record into her senior season.
Vian’s Avery Richey placed 3rd as a freshman, went 26-0 in winning state as a sophomore, won the East Regional title last season, but did not place at state. Richey enters the season with a 68-8 career record.
Harrah’s Addie Morse went 24-2 in her freshman year, earning a state runner-up finish with both of her losses to Bixby’s 2X state champion Jadyn Roller. Morse, ranked 10th in the nation, earned All-American honors at Fargo with a 4th place finish at 100 lbs…
