The inaugural Oklahoma girls 5A high school wrestling preseason rankings usher in a new era in the sport, marking a significant milestone with the division of the girls’ competition into 5A and 6A categories for the first time. This historic split is a nod to the growing recognition and expansion of girls’ wrestling as a competitive sport.
Leading the charge in the 5A division is Mcloud High School, which has taken the top spot with a commendable 78 points and eight wrestlers ranked, reflecting their pioneering spirit and the athletes’ formidable presence on the mat.
Following Mcloud are teams that are quickly establishing their legacies in this new competitive landscape. Stillwell High School has secured the second position with 56 points, boasting four ranked wrestlers who are setting the standards high for what’s to come.
Tecumseh is not far behind, clinching third place with 52 points and five wrestlers making the ranks, indicating their growing prowess.
Cache and Little Axe High Schools are also in fierce contention, occupying the fourth and fifth spots with 48 and 46 points, and nine and four ranked wrestlers respectively.
