MANHEIM, PA (Jan. 20) – Central Oklahoma maintained its perch atop the NCAA Division II rankings Friday despite a loss in the NWCA Division II National Duals finals two weeks ago.
The National Wrestling Coaches Association poll is based on points earned by ranked individuals and all 10 UCO starters are listed in the top 12 at their respective weight, which kept the Bronchos of head coach Todd Steidley at No. 1.
Central collected 77 points, finishing 11 ahead of second-place Lander. Nebraska-Kearney came in third with 63 points, followed by West Liberty (58) and St. Cloud State (56). Indianapolis, Wisconsin-Parkside, Adams State, Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Upper Iowa round out the top 10.
St. Cloud beat the Bronchos 19-16 in the National Duals finals on Jan. 6 in Louisville, Ky., ending UCO’s 25-match winning streak.
