Team Oklahoma Closes Out the Cadet Freestyle National Tournament at Fargo

The Cadet Freestyle tournament at Fargo has wrapped up and Oklahoma walked away with three All-Americans. You can read the recap from yesterday here.

After yesterday, there were three Oklahomans remaining. Clay Giddens dropped his first bout and landed in the seventh/eight place match at 126 pounds. He picked up a 4-1 decision there and finished in seventh place.

Talon McCollon won his first bout then fell in the consolation semifinals. In his final match, he picked up a quick tech fall to finish in fifth.

The highest finisher of the tournament for Oklahoma was KJ Evans. He made the finals at 152 pounds. Evans was down early to New York’s Zach Ryder, but stormed back late and got it to within one with just a few seconds left. He managed to get in on a shot late and nearly finished off the comeback, but ran out of time and fell 10-9.

Team Oklahoma totaled 34 points and finished in 18th place.
