In OU’s last match of the Virginia Duals, they’ll get unranked Maryland. Similar to Virginia, the overall team strength is low, but features some strong individual wrestlers. A rebuilding team, Maryland has quite a few quality wrestlers in redshirts this year. Maryland has four wrestlers that are below 0.500 and three ranked wrestlers. I like OU’s chances to win this round robin, but they do risk dropping some ranked matches. With no tournaments on their schedule, this is a good opportunity for OU to get some adversity and multiple matches over two days.
125lbs: #23 Joey Prata (6-2) vs Zach Spence (0-10)
Prata gets Spence, who is not only winless this season, but has a 2-27 career record. Prata should get the win and bonus is likely as well. Spence has lost by bonus seven times this season already. I’ll take Prata getting a major, as he is not the biggest bonus wrestler.
