  • Oklahoma State's freshmen class impressed with a 5-0 record in wrestling matches.
  • Notable matchups included victories by Sergio Vega, Aden Valencia, Landon Robideau, and Ladarion Lockett.
  • Lockett's win against Hunter Garvin was highlighted by a close 2-1 victory on riding time.
  • Other wins by Alex Facundo, Zach Ryder, Cody Merrill, and Konner Doucet contributed to the team's success.
  • Coaches are optimistic about the team's performance and potential for success in future competitions.

On a evening that saw some surprise entries from both teams, Oklahoma State’s freshmen class (true and redshirt), went 5-0, impressing the rowdy crowd of 7,618 Cowboy faithful in Gallagher Iba Arena Friday night. Stanford was without two of their best wrestlers (Nico Provo and Lorenzo Norman), but there were still plenty of great matchups to look forward to.

Troy Spratley kicked off the night for the Cowboys at 125 against backup Adam Mattin and got the crowd excited with a 21-5 tech fall win.

At 133, newcomer, and past national champion (at 125), Richard Figueroa had a back-and-forth battle with 6th ranked Tyler Knox before losing 13-9.

OSU’s Sergio Vega showed why he was a bit of a surprise choice with a 16-1 tech fall against Jack Consiglio.

In the only real disappointment of the night, up and comer Aden Valencia dominated 2nd ranked Casey Swiderski, winning 13-3. Valecia’s aggressiveness, especially in the first period, really seemed to bother Swiderski and unfortunately, he could never turn it around.
