Oklahoma State Cowboys: NCAA Day 2

Oklahoma State – 25.0 Points (19th Place)

The second day of NCAA’s was a tough one for the Cowboys, as they only put two on the podium. Plott had a good performance to put himself in the consolation semifinals, but a shocking upset of Fix put a damper in Tulsa. Sitting at 19 place currently, the team is on pace to have their worst back-to-back finishes in school history. The worst team finish was 16th in 2009 and there’s a chance that it will be broken tomorrow. Fix and Plott will have opportunities to make some noise and score advancement points to climb past that as they are currently four points behind the three teams tied for 15th.

133lbs: (2) Daton Fix (3-1)

  • 1st Round: Daton Fix Fall. (31) Jack Maida, American (2:16)
  • 2nd Round: Daton Fix Dec. (15) Kyle Biscoglia, Northern Iowa (8-4)
  • Quarterfinals: Daton Fix Dec. (10) Lucas Byrd, Illinois (3-2)
  • Semifinals: (3) Vito Arujua, Cornell Maj. Daton Fix (11-3)

Next Opponent: (8) Aaron Nagao, Minnesota

While Fix being upset wasn’t the biggest of the tournament (OMG Matt Ramos), it was probably second. Fix had some early struggles in the quarterfinals with Byrd. While up 1-0 in the third, Fix scored a reversal and Byrd escaped to make it 3-1. Then Byrd pressured Fix all over the mat, scoring a point after two stalls. Byrd was pushing for another stall call and came close, but Fix survived to head to the semifinals and All-American for the 4th time in his career…
