Oklahoma Dual State Championships: Day One Recap

A fun and competitive day at dual state on Friday as sixteen teams advanced to day two of the tournament. The favorites did as expected for the most part as Stillwater, Edmond North, Bixby, Tuttle, Marlow, and Blackwell all dominated but some close and intriguing matches played out.

Sperry edged Perry 34-33 on criteria after a few late wins tied things back up. Sulphur picked up a late fall over Jay to lock down their dual and 5A had a tight one with defending champion Collinsville beating Duncan after a surge of bonus points in the last 4 matches. Also in 5A Coweta picked up two huge wins late in toss-up matches to beat Piedmont and in 6A Broken Arrow beat Yukon on the back of a few lower-weight wins late.
