Mat Moments

The 2nd week of January saw some amazing action in tournaments from Cache to Catoosa and several places in between.  At the Greg Henning Invitational, Tuttle welcomed back 2X state champion and 3X medalist Braden Potts and 2x finalist and state champion Tucker Waitman back into the line-up.  Their return will certainly have an impact on the rankings that will come out later this week.

Listed below are the top three teams at the Oklahoma tournaments.  All of the tournament results can be found in the Tournament Results section on the home page of the OWrestle website.

District Duals have started and a few teams have already qualified for Dual State which is scheduled for February 10-11 at the Stride Bank Center in Enid.  Class 3A teams that have qualified include defending state champion Marlow, Perry, Jay, and Sperry.  A big district dual looming this week finds number one Blackwell taking on 4th ranked Cascia Hall.

Dual State started in 1989, and Perry hold state records with 32 previous Dual State appearances and 20 Dual State titles.  Marlow has been in the finals the last five years including winning the last two Dual State championships. Marlow has made 22 appearances with five titles and eight runner-up finishes.  Jay was the Dual State runner-up last year and a semifinalist in 2021 and has made a total of six trips to Dual State.  Sperry has qualified for Dual State 16 times including winning titles in 1989 and 1992.
