Inola Girls Recap

Back and forth down the turnpike is what this weekend looked like with a lot of wrestling sprinkled in. Inola hosted their annual girls tournament. There were a total of 219 girls and 43 teams.  There were some great matchups this weekend, with some possible regional and State final match previews. The girls wrestled the pigtails and prelims on Friday.

With most of the girls sitting in the gym for 8+ hours and only getting 1 match in the action started to heat up first thing Saturday morning. In the team race Broken Arrow and WestMoore started the day off with the team lead.  Moore and Bixby quickly made their move in the quarters and these 2 teams quickly showed why they have consistently been ranked in the top 3 all year long.

After the quarter and into the semis Moore, Broken Arrow, and Bixby made a move. Broken Arrow ended up taking home the team championship. Led by Annabelle Chase the 120 champion the  Broken Arrow girls team did most of there damage on the back side of the  brackets in the consolation side. B.A. put 5 girls in the 3 and 4 place finals and one in the 5 and 6 place finals.

Moore and Bixby finished in a tie for 2nd at 152.00 with West Moore 144 and Union 142.5 rounding out the top 5. This was a long tournament that could have been ran a lot smoother by splitting the divisions into separate gymnasiums. Despite the long waits in-between matches and wrestling getting done so late the girls put on a great show.

100 Championship:

Destiny Jones pulled off a huge win over Kylee Smith in the semis and built off that momentum in the finals picking up the fall at 5:24 in the match.
