Girls Returning State Placers Report

Led by Choctaw’s 3X state champion, Peyton Hand, there are 10 returning state champions entering the 2022-23 Girls wrestling season.  In addition to winning state titles last year, Bella Williams (Edmond North), Kali Hayden (Tulsa Union) and Symphony Veoz (Elgin) earned All-American honors at Fargo this past summer, with Williams earning double All-American honors with 3rd place finishes in both the 16U and Junior divisions.  Competing in the 16U division, Hayden earned a national runner-up finish with Veloz earning a 6th place finish.

Other returning state champions include Bixby’s Jadyn Roller, Guthrie’s Khaleah Kirk, Avery Richey (VIan), Taya Hunt (Vian), Mia Cayard (Mustang), and Peighton Mullins (Ft. Gibson). Only a junior, Mullins will be shooting for state title number three.  Roller and Williams took the first steps in becoming 4X state champions with their 2022 titles coming in their freshman year. Yukon’s Kaylee Davis was a 2021 state champion and 2021 Fargo All-American.

In addition to Choctaw’s Peyton Hand (1-1-1), there are six other seniors that have already earned three state medals.  Other 3X state placers include Norman North’s Devin Jansing (2-3-2), Guthrie’s Khaleah Kirk (2-2-1), Westmoore’s Aubrianna Smith (2-4-2), Vian’s Taya Hunt (4-2-1), Bixby’s Grace Thompson (3-4-2) and Owasso’s Sidney Milligan (3-2-2).

Records are from the OSSAA State Tournament brackets found on Track Wrestling.  Career Records only include years that a wrestler competed at the State Tournament.
