CLASS 6A

With three of the top teams in nation competing in Class 6A, the race for the title appears to be a three-team race.  With Stillwater (#4), Edmond North (#5) and Bixby (#22) battling it out, expect to see some fireworks!  Edmond North and Stillwater are expected to continue their ongoing rivalry, but that is what most thought last year before Bixby advanced to the finals with a 33-30 win over Edmond North.  Edmond North beat Stillwater 33-31 in a classic dual at the Hall of Fame Duals in December.  Stillwater has come out on top at the Geary and Yukon Tournaments while the Huskies won the COAC Tournament.  Bixby went 18-2 on the year, including wins over four Dual State qualifiers (Broken Arrow, Sand Springs, Tuttle and Glenpool).  Their only losses were in December to other nationally ranked teams at the Hall of Fame Duals which was when the team was still getting in wrestling shape after winning the state football championship.

Broken Arrow leads all 6A schools with this being their 16th straight appearance and 31st overall in the 35 year-history of Dual State.  They picked up wins over Yukon and Sand Springs during the regular season and won the district title with a 57-12 win over Owasso.  Yukon has wins over three Dual State teams (Mustang, Piedmont and Hinton) and beat Westmoore 35-22 to win the district title.

Choctaw finished the season 8-0, including a win over Mustang and won the district title with a 41-31 win over Moore.   Sand Springs opened the season with a win over Dual State qualifier Duncan and won the district title with wins over Ponca City (39-34, Deer Creek (46-27) and Union (48-25).  Mustang won the district title with a 62-12 win over Edmond Memorial.

CLASS 5A

Class 5A appears to be wide-open with several team in contention to win the title.  Last year Collinsville beat Guthrie in the finals with Pryor and Coweta advancing to the semifinals.  Elgin is the number one seed and finished the regular season with a 9-1 record, including a 39-37 win over El Reno to win the district title.  Coweta finished the regular season with a 16-1 record and undefeated against Oklahoma competition, is the number two seed.  In the quarterfinals, they face a Piedmont team that defeated Guthrie 47-30 to win the district title.  3rd seeded Lawton Mac went undefeated in duals including a 38-36 district win over Carl Albert.

Collinsville has won six Dual State titles, including winning last year and have a 66-12 win over Glenpool.  Duncan had regular season wins over Guthrie and Shawnee and rolled through their district opponents in making their 6th straight appearance.  Glenpool has a win over Pryor and won the district title with a 39-34 win over McAlester.  Pryor earned the district title with wins over Claremore (40-39) and Sapulpa (40-32).
