Carl Albert State College Has Hired A Wrestling Coach

Last month, Carl Albert State College announced they would be starting a wrestling program. Today they announced they’ve hired a coach.

From their release

At their recent regularly scheduled meeting, held on Tuesday, April 22, 2021, the Carl Albert State College Board of Regents approved the hiring of new CASC Wrestling coach, Jake Lords.  Lords will be entrusted with the startup, execution, and operations of the new CASC Wrestling program, set to begin in the fall of 2021.

Lords hails from Rexburg, Idaho, and attended Chadron State College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree; he earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead.  Lords will be leaving his position as Head Assistant Coach at MSUM to join the Viking team.    Lords spent six years as the head wrestling coach at Madison High School in Rexburg.  While at Madison HS, Lords coached more than 65 state qualifiers and 16 state place winners, including a state champion and two state finalists.  As a high school wrestler in Idaho he placed third in the state three times.  Lords served on the Idaho High School Wrestling Coaches Association committee to help sanction women’s wrestling, as well as served as Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for USA Idaho Wrestling.

“We could not be more thrilled to invite Jake into the Carl Albert family,” said President Jay Falkner.  “This is an exciting and unprecedented time for the college, and we wholeheartedly believe Jake is the right person to execute a successful, new wrestling program at Carl Albert.”

A bit of an interesting hire for the Vikings to go out of state to find a coach and bring in Jake Lords from Minnesota. Lords is currently in the process of moving to Oklahoma and will start some time in May at a date to be determined.
