Big time performances propel Oklahoma State over Mizzou 17-16

#12 Oklahoma State over #9 Missouri (17-16)

Oklahoma State was looking for revenge and found it in Stillwater, getting three big upsets and winning the dual over Missouri on criteria. The dual started with a big win by Young, continued by Gfeller, and topped off with a massive upset over #1 by Luke Surber. With Coach John Smith choosing to end the dual at 133, Daton Fix got the job done with an 11 point major. That gave the Cowboys the win on match point criteria with totals of 45-43.

Now with back to back wins over top ten teams, the team is surging and showing off some development. There are still four duals left on the schedule, but the Cowboys are in place to jump back in the top ten and continue to build momentum for March.

141lbs: #22 Carter Young Dec. #7 Allan Hart (4-2)

A tough stylistic matchup for Young, he wrestled well to get the upset and beat Hart at his own game. Hart is a strong scrambler and great from top, yet Young won the scramble for the takedown and had riding time by the end of the match. He smartly chose neutral in the second period, and after getting to legs multiple times finally finished a shot for two points.

He gave up a late reversal, but time was on his side as he got the big win. Now on a five match win streak, Young is looking like what people had expectations for at the beginning of the season. Multiple top ten wins this season put him squarely in the All-American conversation.
